Contract manufacturing in fats is a logistics-sensitive business. The raw material is a commodity and the finished product is bulky and low in unit price, so freight accounts for a far larger share of total cost than in most food-industry categories. Siting the plant inside the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone was a decision built around exactly that.

Inbound: how far the raw material travels

Palm oil and palm kernel oil come mainly from Southeast Asia, arriving by sea at Tianjin Port. The plant sits about 10 km from the container terminals, which compresses the leg from discharge to storage tank to the shortest it can be. Free-trade-zone clearance also cuts the time raw material waits at the port — and for oils that need temperature-controlled storage, waiting time is a quality question, not just a cost one.

Outbound: how quickly finished goods leave

For export customers, having the plant and the port inside the same zone means declaration and vessel loading can be tightly sequenced, cutting out intermediate warehousing and a second round of handling. Product already ships to more than 100 countries and territories, so the process is well proven. For domestic customers, the same Tianjin location reaches the main bakery clusters of north, north-east and eastern China.
